HAZY WELCOME: A plane lands even as fog covers Hyderabad Airport on Thursday. PHOTO: P.V. SIVAKUMAR
HYDERABAD: A thin curtain of fog wrapping the city in the early morning has become the norm since the last three days. The fog, which reduced visibility considerably on the city outskirts till around 7.30 a.m., was however thinner inside the city and hung around till around 9 a.m. before being cleared by wind. The situation was such that the Buddha Statue in the Hussainsagar could be seen only as a mere blur around 7.30 a.m. on Thursday. According to Meteorology Department officials, the reason for the fog was the large amount of moisture coupled with the absence of strong wind. Interestingly, on Wednesday, unlike on Thursday, it was not the high humidity in the city that caused the fog. Low wind had slowly swept the fog from the outskirts into the city.
