Office inaugurated

KOCHI: The eight months of LDF rule has showed negative growth and the Government failed to address problems of the people, said Opposition leader Oommen Chandy. Addressing a public meeting at Kakkanad after inaugurating the office constructed by the East Mandalam committee of the Congress, Mr. Chandy said that the Chief Minister was attempting to divert public attention from issues by creating controversies. — Staff Reporter

Air rifle seized

NEDUMBASSERY: Customs officials at the Cochin International Airport have seized an air rifle from an unaccompanied baggage send here from Sharjah.

The Meteor WE2067 .22 calibre air rifle was found in a baggage registered in the name of O. Suresh Babu of Thrissur. — A Correspondent

Krishna Iyer to release book

Kochi: Aagolikarana Kalathe Vidyabyasam (Education in times of globalisation), a book by Education Minister M.A. Baby, will be released at a function on Saturday by V.R. Krishna Iyer, former judge, Supreme Court, at his residence here. Indira Jaisingh, advocate, Supreme Court, will receive the copy of the book. Advocate G. Janardhana Kurupu will preside. Yuvamorcha meet

Kochi: A two-day meeting of the State committee of the Bharathiya Janatha Yuvamorcha will be held here on Friday and Saturday. K. Surendran, State president of Yuvamorcha, will preside over the meeting. Bharatiya Janata Party State president P.K. Krishnadas will inaugurate the meeting. — Staff Reporter
