This Day That Age
Sanskrit literature has exercised an enormous influence not only in India, but in other parts of Asia, observed the Vice-President, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, presiding over the golden jubilee celebrations of the Madras Sanskrit College and S.V.V. Pathasala on January 27. He said this literature had plumbed the depths of human experience and had enabled us to escape from the cramping influence of our environment and make us more universal so far as our outlook was concerned. Mr. P.V. Rajamannar, Chief Justice of Madras, who delivered the golden jubilee address, said Sanskrit was the common link between the several languages of India. The function was held in a special pandal erected in front of the Sanskrit College, Mylapore.
