Corrections and Clarifications

While Koodankulam has been spelt correctly in the Page 1 lead story (January 26, 2007) it is repeatedly spelt wrongly as Koondankulam in "NSG guidelines don't prohibit preparatory work ... " (inside page).

In the article "Nuclear deals and technology choice" (Edit page, January 26, 2007), it was stated that the reactors that Westinghouse plans to sell to the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation of China are based on its latest reactor system AP1000. The system is claimed to bring down capital costs and construction time significantly to $1-1.2 billion/MWe and 36 months respectively. It should be $1-1.2 million/MWe.

"The circular providing gunmen was issued in pursuant of a policy decision" ("Gunmen privileges: court slams U.P. Government", January 26, 2007) should read, "issued pursuant to a policy decision."

An educationist is a person who has contributed to the theory and practice of education, and not one who runs or administers educational institutions ("IT raids," January 25 and 26).

Though differently worded, The Guardian report, "Find of the century, say scientists" (International, January 26, 2007) and "Australia's megafauna" from Reuters (Newscape, January 26, 2007) deal with the same news.
