74 trauma care centres planned in State: Minister
Staff Reporter
Bangalore:
Admitting that there was a shortage of trauma care centres in the State, Health Minister R. Ashok told The Hindu here on Friday that the State Government was planning to set up 74 trauma care centres all over the State with partial funding from the Union Government.
"The focus will be on establishing trauma care centres on the outskirts of the city so that accident victims from outside Bangalore need not come to the city for treatment," he said.
As the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and Research Institute was not accessible to all because of traffic reasons, the Government was looking at setting up trauma centres in all the four zones of Bangalore and was in the process of identifying land for this purpose. "We have land near NH 4, Kengeri and Magadi Road which could be utilised for this purpose," he said. The Centre had promised Rs. 25 lakh per trauma centre. The State Government proposed to put in the rest, he added.
