Disabled persons stage protest
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Members of the Karnataka Rajya Angavikalara Okkuta staged a demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue on M.G. Road on Friday protesting against the State Government's negligence in addressing the problems of disabled persons.
The members were upset with the Women and Child Development Minister H.K. Kumaraswamy as he had not kept his word of arranging a meeting with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to resolve problems faced by disabled persons.
Shouting slogans against Mr. H.K. Kumaraswamy, the members also burnt his effigy. They later submitted a memorandum to the Minister demanding that the Chief Minister should immediately convene a meeting with officials from all departments and chalk out an action plan for the welfare of disabled persons.
