The fire broke out in a multi-storeyed commercial complex

BANGALORE: Computers, other electronic gadgets and furniture were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a multi-storeyed commercial complex on Cunningham Road on Friday.

Police said that around 11 a.m. the residents of an adjoining apartment complex noticed smoke billowing out of a business establishment on the third floor of the commercial complex and alerted the Fire and Emergency Services.

Before fire tenders reached the spot, the fire had spread to the fourth floor. Six fire tenders battled for nearly an hour to put out the fire. Electric short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire, the police said.

Besides computers and furniture, documents and air-conditioners of the establishment were also gutted. As it was a holiday for the firm, no one was present in the building when the incident took place, the police said. The High Grounds police have registered a case.
