Dharmapuri: Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal asked villagers to select development works under the Anaithu Gramam Anna Marumalarchi Thittam based on their infrastructure requirements. Participating in a gram sabha meeting at Naduhalli panchayat in Dharmapuri block on Friday, the Collector asked villagers to remove the plastic waste dumped in water bodies. Anti-larval measures should be initiated to control the spread of diseases such as dengue and chikungunya.
Budge ratified
Village panchayats should ensure the supply of protected drinking water to residents, he said. The budget was ratified at the meeting and various resolutions pertaining to the development of the village were passed. The district administration had instructed representatives of local bodies to chlorinate all overhead tanks and other water bodies in the panchayat on the first and 16th of every month, he said. The Collector urged self-help group (SHG) members to come forward and take up minor repairs of pipelines and street lights in their respective panchayats. The SHGs should initiate steps to enrol all out-of-school children and child labourers in appropriate alternative schools and innovative education centres. Efforts would be made to link best performing SHGs with banks to get loans. The gram sabha meetings passed off smoothly in 240 panchayats in the district. In Krishnagiri district, gram sabha meetings were held in 337 village panchayats.
