KOCHI: Maruti Udyog Limited launched Swift Diesel in Kochi on Thursday. Launching the diesel car, Sasank Srivastava, Commercial Business Head, South, MUL, said there was a growing demand for diesel cars in India. MUL had made major investments in diesel facilities to cater to the demand, he said. Unlike the conventional diesel engines, the engine of the Swift Diesel is silent, while offering superior fuel efficiency, he said. He claimed that the compactness of the engine leads to superior performance and better fuel economy. Technology for the diesel engine was obtained by Suzuki Motor Corporation through a technical licence agreement with Fiat and Adam Opel.
