BERHAMPUR: Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) will establish five centres of excellence for advance research in science and technology in Orissa. Speaking to newsmen during his visit to the city on Saturday, Vice-Chancellor Omkarnath Mohanty said these centres would be established in collaboration with some foreign universities. The centres would be pathfinders in the field of advanced computing, Robotics and Mechatronics, Advanced Micro-electrical research and centre for steel research. The Centre would provide financial help for the establishment of these centres. Mr. Mohanty said there was no dearth of brainpower in Orissa. Speaking on human resources at the various technical institutions in the State, Mr. Mohanty said BPUT was making efforts to become a catalyst in the recruitment process of technical manpower coming out of Orissa institutes. From this year the BPUT would start centralised counselling for campus recruitment for all technical institutions. This would provide a common platform and equal opportunity to compete and get the first breakthrough in the job market.
