`Facts are sacrosanct and should not be concealed'

  • Advocates urged to make the best use of available technology

HUBLI: Former Chief Justice of India S.P. Barucha said lawyers play a vital role in the decision-making process of a litigation.

Inaugurating the Ninth S.C. Javali National Moot Court Competition organised by the University College of Law here on Friday evening, he said any concealment or addition made by the lawyers had a major impact on the decisions delivered by the judges.

    `Do not conceal facts'

He stressed the need to use video conferencing in resolving disputes.

Mr. Holla called on advocates to make the best use of the technology available, including facilities such as online library, legal outsourcing and mobile phones. He illustrated the progress achieved by various nations in using technology to resolve disputes.

    Research

Use of technology in deciding miscellaneous matters before the courts reduced the work of judges and gave them an opportunity to take up research in the field of law, he said.
