Corporal punishment banned in H.P.

SHIMLA: Corporal punishment in any form has been banned in all private educational institutions across the hill State, said a spokesman of the Himachal Government's Department of Elementary Education here on Saturday.

He said the head of educational institution might impose a special fine not exceeding Rs.5 in any case for a breach of school discipline or misconduct which would be understood to include lack of punctuality, irregular attendance, use of bad language or slovenly habits as well as breach of school rules and such delinquencies that might set a bad example.
