NEW DELHI: To commemorate the 59th anniversary of the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti is organising a special all-religion prayer meeting at its Tees January Marg premises here on January 30. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will lead the country in paying homage to the Mahatma. A host of dignitaries and people from all sections of society are expected to be present at the commemorative prayer meeting. Eminent vocalists Rajan and Sajan Mishra from the Banaras gharana will offer a musical tribute to the Father of the Nation. Joining the duo will be a large number of children from five Delhi schools who will also offer a musical tribute to the Mahatma at the Martyr's Column where Bapu fell to the assassin's bullets on January 30, 1948. The participating schools include J. P. M. Senior Secondary School for the Blind, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg; Jaspal Kaur Public School, Shalimar Bagh; Bharat National Public School, Ram Vihar; and Rashtriya Virjananda Andh Kanya Senior Secondary School, Vikaspuri. Leaders from different religious faiths will offer prayers at the Martyr's Column.
