NEW DELHI:
Continuing his pre-budget consultations, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday had a meeting with representatives of foreign institutional investors (FIIs), who have been active in the stock markets.
The FII representatives were satisfied with the functioning of the Indian bourses and monitoring by the market regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India, official sources said.
Procedural issues
Unlike as was seen at meetings held earlier with interest groups and stakeholders such as industrialists and apex chambers, economists, trade unions and farm experts, the FIIs did not refer to any policy matters but discussed "procedural issues" of investments in the stock markets, the sources said.
This was the ninth pre-budget meeting held by the Minister.
