Madurai: Santhosh Gopi's 75 helped Le-chatelier Cricket Club defeat Richards CC by eight wickets and enter the semifinals of the Alagiri Birthday District-level cricket tournament here on Saturday.
The scores (quarterfinals): Richards CC 96 in 19.5 overs (Manikandan four for 12) lost to Le-chatelier CC 97 for two in 14.4 overs (Santhosh Gopi 75); Oliva CC 111 for seven in 20 overs (Jeya Prakash 45) lost to Arasaradi CC 114 for four in 14.5 overs (Doss 40 not out, Kirubakaran 45); TVS Srichakra CC 114 for seven in 20 overs (Srinivasan 40, Siddarth 40) bt Pykara CC 94 for eight in 15.2 overs, rain stopped play, TVS Srichakra won on run rate; Majestic CC w/o Mercury CC.
Mahendran triumphs
G. Mahendran of Chennai won the title in the eight-annual Tamil Nadu State Chess championship for the visually handicapped at Madurai on Saturday.
