Moulika beats Keerthi makes final

HYDERABAD: K. Moulika defeated S. Keerthi 8-1 in the girls' under-10 semifinal of the Shantinagar Open sub-junior tennis tournament here on Saturday.

The results:

Girls: Under-10 (semifinals): K. Bindiya bt Sindu Goud 8-1; K. Moulika bt S. Keerthi 8-1. Quarterfinals: Bindiya Khanvani bt M. Srinikitha 6-2; Sindu Goud bt N. Saranya 7-5; K. Moulika bt Harshitha 6-0; S. Keerthi bt Joeyta Hirendranath 7-5.

Under-12 (semifinals): K. Bhavana bt K. Moulika 8-7; K. Bindiya bt S. Keerthi 8-2. Quarterfinals: K. Bhavana bt Eshana 6-0; Moulika bt Srija 6-3; Bindiya Khanvani bt Harshitha 6-1; S. Keerthi bt M. Srinikitha 6-2.

Boys: Under-10 (semifinals): Mir Hashim bt S.A.Wahab 8-5; Viswak Reddy bt Vijay Rama Rao 8-3. Quarterfinals: S.A. Wahab bt Arnav Jain 6-0; Mir Hashim bt Anudeep Reddy 6-0; Vijay Rama Rao w/o P. Sreedutt; Viswak Reddy w/o A. Uday Shankar.

Under-12: A. Uday Shankar bt S.M. Osama 8-7; Mir Hashim bt Chris Veeresh 8-2. Quarterfinals: S.M. Osama bt S.A. Wahab 6-3; A. Uday Shankar bt Viswak Reddy 6-0; Chris Veeresh bt Anudeep Reddy 6-1; Mir Hashim w/o Dheeraj.

Jakrias Das passes away

Former State footballer, Jakrias Das, passed away on Friday night. He was 69.

Jakrias represented the State in the 60s and played under the tutelage of the renowned coach S.A. Rahim and was a regular member of the State team for all the Durand, IFA Shield and other premier national events. He also led City College Old Boys Club in the local circuit besides.
