Fifteen new records set on opening day

  • Defending champion Karnataka is lying second

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fifteen new records were set on the opening day of the 20th South Zone junior and sub-junior aquatic championships at the Water Works Swimming pool here on Friday.

    Tamil Nadu led the points tally at the end of the competitions on the first day with 331 nosing ahead of defending champion Karnataka (325). Host Kerala was a distant third at 189 points.

    Group 1: Boys: 200m freestyle: Rishender (TN) (2:06.97). 1500m freestyle: R. Rishender (TN) 17:30.82 - New Meet Record; 18:27.28, N.Abhiram, 2006); 50m backstroke: S.R.
