HASSAN: Public Works and Power Minister H.D. Revanna on Saturday advised NSS volunteers to popularise conservation of water in rural areas. Mr. Revanna inaugurated the "Jala Jagruthi Janandolan" at the Adichunchanagiri Community Hall. He lauded the organisers for holding such a programme and said students could create awareness since they were the future of the country. The event was organised by the Cauvery Irrigation Corporation Ltd. and NSS unit under University of Mysore. Mr. Revanna said the Government had prioritised water conservation and everyone must save water and use it judiciously. Rainwater harvesting programmes must be taken up, he added. Earlier NSS students from various schools, colleges, polytechnic and ITI of Hassan taluk took out a rally to create awareness among the people on the importance of water conservation. Deputy Commissioner K.H. Aswathanarayana Gowda inaugurated the rally at the Hemavathi Statue.
