To sort out issue of submersion of areas in that State under Inchampalli project
|
HYDERABAD:
An Andhra Pradesh team, headed by Major Irrigation Minister P. Lakshmaiah is likely to visit Raipur shortly to sort out the issue of submersion of areas in Chhattisgarh under Inchampalli project.
The visit, however, will be undertaken after the planned all-party delegation, led by Mr. Lakshmaiah, meets Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz.
As against the in-principle clearance by the Maharashtra Government to the Inchampalli dam as proposed by Andhra Pradesh with a reduced height of 95 metres, Chhattisgarh is strongly opposing the project even with this restricted height contending that it would lead to vast submersion.
The Andhra Pradesh team will try to convince Chhattisgarh that the project is being taken up in line with the series of inter-State agreements signed by Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh in 1975 and 1978.
The team will also meet Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh.
