  • Says new State will be a State of the weaker sections

KARIMNAGAR: TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao reiterated his appeal to the leaders of all political parties of Telangana region to join the "dharma poratam'' for statehood.

He was addressing a gathering after several local leaders from the BJP, TDP and Congress joined the TRS in his presence on Saturday evening. He appealed to the people of Telangana to intensify the movement for achieving statehood by 2009. Reiterating that 2009 would be the year of statehood for the region, he appealed to the people to strengthen the TRS by casting their vote in favour of Telangana during the 2009 elections. "We are not playing any politics and I am not after power as I had sacrificed several posts in the State and Centre. My dream is statehood for Telangana and I will fight till the formation of the new State,'' he pointed out. He said that Telangana would be a State of weaker sections such as SCs/STs/BCs and minorities, who constitute about 85 per cent of the total population in the region.
