HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president K. Keshava Rao has said that the party was ready for seat adjustments with the Left for ensuing elections to Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry Municipal Corporations and Hindupur municipality. "The party has already discussed the issue with CPI leaders Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy and K. Narayana," Dr. Rao told reporters here on Saturday. It would hold discussions with CPI (M) secretary B. V. Raghavulu to discuss a poll alliance. Describing the elections as prestigious, he said the Congress would win three civic bodies. The party had set the ball rolling by constituting separate committees to select candidates. Local leaders would prepare a list of candidates which would be approved by the party. The party constituted a committee with Union Minister T. Subbarami Reddy, N. Janardhan Reddy, MP, Ministers D. Srinivas and K. Ramakrishna and legislators T. Gurumurthy Reddy, Gandi Babji and K. Seetaram for the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.
Coordination
Another APCC committee headed by vice-presidents A. Chakrapani and Mohd.Jani, MLA Vatti Vasant Kumar and Mahila Congress president Ganga Bhavani would coordinate the election work. APCC secretary D. Nagender was named convener for the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation. Roads & Buildings Minister Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao,U. Arun Kumar, Harsha Kumar, MPs, and R. Suryaprakash Rao and Satyavati, MLAs are members. Former MLA and party general secretary K. Tippeswamy heads the APCC committee for Hindupur Municipality. The committee would coordinate its work with local Ministers J.C.Diwakar Reddy and N. Raghuveera Reddy, the PCC chief said. On the controversy over the election of Vizianagaram ZP chairperson, Dr. Rao maintained that the media had blown the issue out of proportion. He said the stand taken by two Ministers Botcha Satyanarayana and S. Vijayarama Raju was correct and they could not be faulted.
