MELBOURNE: The biggest beneficiary of the Serena Williams success story here will be the WTA event in Bangalore. The organisers had roped in a seemingly fading, out-ofform former World champion ranked just inside the top 100 (95). Now, the hottest player on the women's tour, and the year's first Grand Slam champion, will be in action in the Garden City in the $175,000 tier three tournament from February 12 to 18. "I am supposed to go to India next, Bangalore. I am so excited,'' said Serena in her post-match press conference. "I've never been to India. I've heard a lot about it. I really look forward to going there. For some reason, I'm really happy to go there.'' Of course, a lot of tennis fans in Bangalore _ apart from those who run the event _ will be happier than Serena herself.
