KOTTAYAM: Kannur has history in its favour as it bids for a hat-trick of triumphs in the National universities women's volleyball championship which begins at the Mahatma Gandhi University ground here on Sunday. All the winners in the last 10 years have been from the South and this time too things are expected to be the same. "Unless a miracle happens, I think Mahatma Gandhi and Kannur should be fighting for the title once again," Prakash Mathew, the host coach, said. The two met in the South-West Zone meet, which concluded here on Friday. MGU has an impressive record, winning the varsities Nationals 11 times in 24 appearances. Kannur, however, appears to be a settled combination, one which is capable of handling tough situations better. The groupings: Pool `A': Punjabi (Patiala), Mahatma Gandhi (Kottayam), Calicut and Calcutta. Pool `B': Kannur, Delhi, GNDU (Amritsar) and Madras. Principal Correspondent
