Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in parts of Kutcheri Road, Ramakrishnapuram, M.K. Amman Koil Street in Mylapore East, 13, Kellys Road residential in Kilpauk, Mandapam Road 3rd to 6th street in Kellys and new and old Perungalahur, Mudichur, S.V. Nagar, Varadarajapuram in Perungalathur areas, owing to maintenance work.

Bone mineral density test

Members of Punjab Youth Association, along with the Himalaya Drug Company, will organise a free bone mineral density test on Sunday at the Gurudwara, 127, G.N. Chetty Road, T. Nagar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interested persons may avail themselves of the free service, which may otherwise cost around Rs.1,000, said an association release.

Science quiz for students

K.J. Hospital at 182, Poonamallee High Road will conduct a science quiz in English, Tamil elocution competition and a science exhibition on February 3 for students of Standard IX and XI in commemoration of the ninth National Technology Day falling on11th May, 2007.

The competitions will be conducted at the hospital auditorium between 2 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. Students will have to produce bonafide certificates. For details, call: 94441 72982 or 26411513.

Blood donation camp held

The blood bank of the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch, organised a blood donation camp on Wednesday at A.M.K. Technological Polytechnic College, Sembarambakkam.

R.J. Kumar, principal of the college helped organise the camp.

Donations made

Sath Seva, a social service organisation in T. Nagar donated cotton, gauze, Dettol, soap and tooth paste worth Rs.10,000 at Republic Day to patients at Jeevodaya, a hospice for cancer patients.

IAF cultural programme

A cultural programme was held to mark the platinum jubilee of Indian Air Force at Mechanical Transport Training Institute, Air Force Station,

Avadi recently.

Air Commodore G.R. Prasad was the chief guest. Songs and dances in various Indian languages were presented as part of the show.

`Secrets of C and C++'

The computer science department of Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Thandalam, conducted a guest lecture for MCA students on the `Secrets of C and C++'. Vinobaa, managing director, MC2 Software Research Institute, addressed students.
