HYDERABAD: The traditional Bibi-Ka-Alam procession on a caparisoned elephant to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, grandson of the Prophet, in the battle of Karbala during 7th century AD would be carried out on January 30 from 1 p.m. As per the usual custom, on Saturday, Governor of Andhra Pradesh Rameshwar Thakur offered `Dhatti' to the Alam-e-Mubarak. In-charge of Bibi-Ka-Alawa, Aliuddin Aarif informed that the restoration of the Alam was carried out by a group of conservators under the supervision of Chief Conservator of Salar Jung Museum Ahmed Ali recently.
Restoration
"The Alam has been strengthened with the help of conservators. They have used gold attachments to give strength to the Alam. The conservators took up restoration at the Ashoorkhana ," said Mr. Aarif. The Bibi-ka-Alam elephant procession would pass through Etebar Chowk, Kotla Alijah, Charminar, Gulzar Houz, Kaali Kaman, Mandi Miralam, Purani Haveli, Darulshifa and would end at Chaderghat on January 30 evening by 8 p.m. The Governor was presented with a book on the teachings Imam Hussain and also a shawl by Andhra Pradesh Shiya Youth Conference.
