Four alleged drug dealers arrested
About 12 kg of Nepal hashish has been recovered from their possession, the police said. The contraband was packed in polythene bags of 500 gm each. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the accused, Babu Khan, Shahzad, Shaukin Ali and Mohammad Liyakat Ali, near Karkardooma courts in East Delhi. During interrogation, the accused purportedly confessed to having been involved in drug trafficking for the past one year. The accused allegedly procured the drugs from Nepal and supplied them to foreigners staying in Paharganj hotels here.
Four held in murder case
One knife, two country-made pistols and Rs, 29,000 in cash have been recovered from their possession, the police said. Acting on tip-off, the police arrested the accused, Salim, Parvesh, Ikram and Firoz, at Ganga Vihar here. During interrogation, the four purportedly confessed to having killed Mehmood and disposed of his body near Badalpur village in Uttar Pradesh. Mehmood ran a wholesale shop at Chaman Vihar in Khajuri Khas.
Court issues notices to DCPs
Metropolitan Magistrate D K Jangala directed both the officials to file an action report in the case on January 29. Asha Devi, a resident of Rohini here, filed a complaint with the court alleging that a Head Constable, Jitender and two others belonging to Dhaula Kuan police station, without any reason seized her Rural Transport Vehicle (RTV) on March 23, 2005 and allegedly sold its parts. Every time she went to the Dhaula Kuan police station for the release of the vehicle, she was told it has been kept at Mangolpuri police station for want of space. But when she went there she found the vehicle in a tumble-down state with some of its parts missing.
Life sentence for murder
Additional Sessions Judge S P Gars sentenced Syed Kasif Ali to life imprisonment for murdering Mehmooda while committing a robbery in her house. The court also sentenced his accomplice Mohammed Akil to three years rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilt of receiving stolen property. The victim had given two dying declarations in the hospital before her death, one to her brother and the other to the investigating officer.
