THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An all-party, all-religion meeting will be held at Balaramapuram on February 10 to promote communal harmony in the area. This `Jana Maithri Sangamam' will be attended by top political leaders and leaders of different faiths, District Collector N. Ayyappan informed here. This decision was taken at a meeting held at the collectorate on Saturday evening. A 20-member peace committee, consisting of representatives of various political parties and religious leaders of Balaramapuram, has also been formed. It was decided at the meeting that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the incidents of violence at Balaramapuram on the night of January 22. The meeting decided not to permit any party/organisation to take out rallies at Balaramapuram till February 10. On January 30, the Congress has been permitted to take out a rally in connection with the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi. Even after February 10 rallies can be taken out only with prior permission from the police. No provocative slogans, against any particular religion or party, should be raised during such rallies.
