Hospital recognised

Thiruvananthapuram: KIMS Hospital has been recognised as the Regional Training Centre of the American Heart Association (AHA), an official release said here. The hospital will have enormous scope for research on resuscitation science through its association with AHA. — Staff Reporter

World Peace Day

Thiruvananthapuram: The 60th year of martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, on January 30, would be observed as Viswashanti day or World Peace Day by Information and Public Relations department and Kerala University's Gandhian Study Centre. Youth killed in accident

Thiruvananthapuram: A 25-year-old youth was killed when the motorbike he was riding collided with a jeep near Kilimanoor on Saturday. He was identified by Medical College hospital authorities as Sooraj, of Pulimath, Kilimanoor.

Security guard dies

Thiruvananthapuram: Sathyanesan, 57, a security guard at SAT hospital was killed when he slipped and fell into a canal near his home at Vithura on Saturday night. The body has been kept at the mortuary of the Medical College Hospital. — Staff Reporter

Eight injured

Thiruvananthapuram: Eight persons were injured when a lorry collided with a van running parallel service between Udiyankulangara and Amaravila on Saturday. Shylan, 44, of Dhanuvachapuram; George, 39, of Kaliyikkavila and Benziyar, 36, of Vavara were admitted to the Medical College. Five others were injured. They were identified as Selvamani, 48; Babu, 51; Stephen, 24; Sasi, 24; and Binu, 25.
