Manipal University will introduce online entrance tests for admission to their professional courses. The university, formerly known as Manipal Academy of Higher Education, changed its name in pursuance of a University Grants Commission notification. It will conduct online entrance examinations for courses such as MBBS, BDS, B.E., B.Pharm, B.Sc. Nursing, BHM and B.A. Journalism. According to group president Anand Sudarshan, the move of introducing online tests has been made considering that students often face the probability of taking two or more entrance examinations the same day. The tests, said Mr. Sudarshan, would give the student the freedom to choose the location, date and time for giving the test.
19 centres
Online tests will be conducted at 19 centres that have been ergonomically designed with the latest computers for every student. These centres have a high security communication network for electronic delivery of the test and provide for use of biometric and hi-tech monitoring systems to prevent impersonation and foul play.
