CET for undergraduate courses on May 9

Cell formally issues notification for CET 2007


  • Last date to submit demand drafts to principals of schools and colleges is February 7
  • Applications and brochures are expected to reach respective institutions by February 20

    BANGALORE: The Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell on Sunday formally notified CET 2007 for admission to first year undergraduate professional courses in various colleges across the State. The single-day CET will be held on May 9.

    According to the notification, the brochure with application form for the CET will be supplied through schools and colleges within the State to candidates of 12th standard or second year pre-university.

    The candidates have to submit a demand draft for Rs. 550 to the principals in advance, drawn in favour of "The Special Officer, CET Cell, Bangalore" payable in Bangalore. Candidates coming under the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Category - 1 will have to submit a demand draft for Rs. 400.

    The last date to submit demand drafts to the principals of schools and colleges is February 7.

    Application forms and brochures are expected to reach the respective schools and colleges by February 20.

    For Medical and Dental courses, the applicant should have passed the Karnataka second year pre-university/12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study.

    They should have obtained at least 50 per cent of aggregate marks in the PCB group and should secure not less than 50 per cent of marks taken together in PCB subjects in the CET.

    For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates, the minimum marks for eligibility will be 40 per cent of the aggregate in the PCB group in both qualifying examination and CET.

    For admission to Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga courses, candidates should have completed the age of 17 as on December 31, 2007.

    For Engineering and Technology courses, applicants should have passed the Karnataka second year pre-university/12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electronics, and Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 45 per cent of the aggregate marks in optional subjects, irrespective of the marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test.

    For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates, the minimum marks for eligibility will be 40 per cent of aggregate marks in optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

    For Architecture course, applicants should have passed the Karnataka second year pre-university/12th standard or equivalent examination with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject and obtained at least 50 per cent of marks in aggregate in all subjects in the qualifying examination.

    They should compulsorily appear for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture and score a minimum of 40 per cent in it.
