KADAPA: One Thati Peddabbi allegedly axed his wife to death on the outskirts of Mangapatnam village in Muddanur mandal, suspecting her fidelity. He took her to the village outskirts on the pretext of collecting firewood and axed her to death, police said. Muddanur police registered a case. Staff Reporter

Fatally run over

KADAPA: A sheep trader C. Khaja Peer (36) of Prakashnagar in Kadapa city was fatally run over by a lorry near Neelakantharaopet in Ramapuram mandal. Ramapuram police took the lorry driver and cleaner into custody and registered a case. Staff Reporter

Woman dies of dog bite

KADAPA: Chinnakka (50) of Thotapalle village in Porumamilla mandal died of a rabid dog bite. The dog badly bit her on the hands while she was asleep in front of her house and she died of profuse bleeding, according to police. Staff Reporter

Overseas jobs for ex-servicemen

KADAPA: The State Government launched Overseas Manpower Company of Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP) to arrange overseas employment in various capacities to ex-servicemen, said District Sainik Welfare Officer M. Collector's directive

CHITTOOR: District Collector S.S. Rawat said here on Sunday that special officers for the mandals were asked to tour the villages in the mandals allotted to them and supervise the execution of developmental activities besides conducting review meetings with mandal-level officers. — Correspondent

Two farmers end lives

KURNOOL: A farmer G. Krishna (45) committed suicide by hanging himself at G. Singavaram under Kurnool Rural Police station limits on Sunday. Recurring loss and financial troubles were said to be the reason for the suicide. At Manchalakatta under Gadivemula mandal, another ryot Abdul Rahaman, 50, committed suicide by consuming pesticide.

Two children killed in wall collapse

ADONI: Two children were killed in a wall collapse at Hanuman Nagar in Adoni on Sunday. According to reports, Pampathi and Razavali, both aged 4 years, were buried under debris of a compound wall. They died on the spot. - Special Correspondent

Contaminated toddy claims one's life

ANANTAPUR: One Ramanjaneyulu (22) of Kalluru in Lepakshi mandal was found dead on Sunday allegedly after consuming contaminated toddy. According to the police, he consumed toddy in a toddy shop on Saturday night and went to sleep. He was found dead this morning. Middlemen on behalf of toddy shop owner were learnt to have offered a compensation of Rs. 20,000 to the victim's family. - Staff Reporter

Aid for war widows, veterans enhanced

KADAPA: The Government has enhanced monthly financial assistance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 500 to non-pensioner World War II veterans and from Rs. 200 to Rs. 400 to non-pensioner widows with effect from December, according to Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer M.
