Primary schools in city to get new buildings

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has directed the School Education Department officials to provide new buildings to all the primary schools in the city that were in a dilapidated condition within in a year.

At a meeting with senior officials of the Education Department on Sunday, Dr. Reddy said an amount of Rs.30 crores available under Sarva Sikhsa Abhiyan Programme would be utilised for the purpose. He also asked Chief Secretary J. Harinarayana to convene a meeting with officials to take up necessary action. Noting that several school buildings in the city, especially in the old city, required pucca building, the Chief Minister directed officials to acquire suitable lands in the district.
