NAMAKKAL: People Welfare Protection Forum has urged the Railway Ministry to expedite the implementation of Salem Karur new railway line project. A resolution passed in a meeting of the forum here recently said that huge amount of public money had been invested in the project.
Delayed
But its execution was delayed for various reasons. If implemented, the project would give better rail connectivity to residents of Namakkal district. In another resolution, the forum said the district administration should ensure proper distribution of domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. Steps should be taken to check the use of domestic LPG for commercial purposes. Stating that the mosquito menace in the town had reached alarming proportions, the forum demanded that the Namakkal municipal administration take serious efforts to tackle the problem. Spraying of repellents and fogging should be carried out all over the town. The forum said many councillors of the municipality were not discussing with people the civic problems to give the public view in the council meetings. The deposit amount for getting a new water connection should be reduced. The municipality should not insist the people to pay deposit for underground drainage connection along with the deposit for water connection. Forum president S. Perumal presided.
