PUDUCHERRY: The Pattali Makkal Katchi has demanded appointment of a PMK member as a nominated MLA in the territorial assembly. In a memorandum to Chief Minister N Rangasamy, the party leader and Member of Parliament M. Ramadass said there was a pre-poll agreement between the Congress and his party that one nominated MLA post would be given to PMK.
Pact not honoured
He said eight months have passed since the constitution of the new Assembly and no steps had been taken to honour the agreement. The party would take up the issue with United Progressive Alliance leader Sonia Gandhi if there was any further delay, he said.
`Set up panel'
He also urged the Chief Minister to constitute a steering committee with alliance partners to evolve a Common Minimum Programme for governance in the Union Territory.
