Bidar: Two people were killed and two others injured in a brawl at Kapalapur (J) village in Bidar taluk on Monday night.

The former gram panchayat member Amruti Ghaleppa and four of his family members allegedly stabbed Basavanth Reddy, 26, and his friend Narasimhalu, 24. The two died on the spot.

Basavanth Reddy's sister Narasamma Gopal Reddy and her brother Kasim Reddy were injured. Another friend of Kasim Reddy escaped.

Narasamma was lost her husband a few years ago. She complained to her brothers that Amrut was pursuing her. She had complained that he had threatened to kill her children and kidnap her.

When Narasamma and her brothers went to Amrut's house to enquire about this complaint, Amrut allegedly picked a quarrel with them.

Amrut and his family members took out lethal weapons and allegedly attacked Narasamma and her group, the police said.

Cases have been filed against Amrut, his son Anil, his relative Prakash and two others in the Janawada police station. Amrut has been arrested. The others were reported to be absconding, the police said.
