Issue of wages of khadi workers to be taken up

Book on khadi titled `Khadi Darshana' released


  • Public urged to use at least one khadi product
  • Changes made in the products to suit the needs of urban people

    HUBLI: Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar has said that he would take up the issue of increasing the wages paid to khadi workers with the departments concerned.

    He was speaking after inaugurating the fifteen-day State-level exhibition cum sale of products of Khadi and Village Industries at the Indira Glass House in Hubli on Monday.

    The Minister also promised to take up the issue of release of special rebates for khadi products and ensure its release on time. Mr. Shettar called on the public to promote and encourage khadi and village industries by purchasing products of khadi sanghas. Lot of changes have been incorporated in the products of khadi and village industries to suit the requirements of the urban people, he said.

    Former Ministers A.M. Hindasageri and Jabbarkhan Honnalli appealed to the people to use at least one khadi product a house as a step towards promoting khadi and supporting the livelihood of millions of people.

    Managing director of Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Shivashailam released a book titled "Khadi Darshana" written by Krishna Kolhar. B.B. Patil, president, Karnataka Khadi Gramodyog Samyukta Sangha presided over the function.
