FP shop dealers seek revision of commission

Correspondent

Allege faulty weighing of stocks given to them

  • Commission remains unchanged for past two years
  • Plan to lay siege to Collectorate on February 1

Kakinada: The East Godavari district fair price shop dealers have alleged underweighment of the stocks, both rice and sugar, delivered to them and despite repeated representations no action has been taken by the authorities concerned.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, Amajala Veera Brahmam Naidu, president, and Adabala Venkata Ramana, secretary of the FP Dealers' Welfare Association said they would not accept the stock hereafter if it was not properly weighed before delivery. Every dealer was getting one to two kg less both in rice and sugar stocks delivered to them, they said and wanted civil supplies authorities to allow the dealers to submit the DD towards 50 per cent of the quota allotted to him by fifth of every month and the balance 50 per cent by 15, as was stipulated in the order issued during December last year. Mr. Veera Brahmam Naidu regretted that commission of dealers remain unchanged for the past two years despite several representations to the government. He said the Chief Minister had assured them of revising their commission taking into account the ground realities but it did not materialise till date owing to bureaucratic delay.

At present, he said, the commission was uniform throughout the State and the Chief Minister had promised to increase it to Rs.30 to urban area dealers and Rs.20 to rural dealers. He said the association members, as a part of the action programme, would lay siege to the Collectorate on February 1.
