Congress groups ready for showdown

VIZIANAGARAM: With the notification issued for Zilla Parishad Chairperson election on February 5, the warring groups of Ministers S. Vijayarama Raju and Botcha Satyanarayana are once again in for a showdown. While Mr. Satyanarayana's group, which has 14 ZPTC members, is in favour of installing Botcha Appala Narasaiah, the Minister's brother and ZPTC member from Dattirajeru mandal in the seat, Mr. Raju's group with nine ZPTC members favours a candidate other than from Botcha family. The TDP too is in consultation with the party bosses in Hyderabad is planning to field a candidate as it has 11 ZPTC members, including one CPI (M) and an independent.

As per the guidelines given in the notification, quorum is not necessary for conducting the election this time.
