NEW DELHI: As many as seven Indian junior pugilists made it to finals in the five weight categories on the second day of the 10th YMCA international boxing championship here on Tuesday.

Lightweight Rakesh triumphed over Jagbir in an all-Indian affair in the 60 kg semifinal. Rakesh scored with a flurry of punches in the first round to open up a good lead. He improved on it in the second before the referee blew his whistle to stop the bout in the third round. The 48 kg class will have Sandeep and Sunil fighting for the gold.

In a super-heavy class quarterfinal, Sunny of India-B scored the first knockout win of the championship when he beat Adyl Hanaliyev of Turkmenistan.

In the senior category, light-fly Paramjeet Singh continued with his forward march with a 13-7 win against Amandeep in the 48 kg semifinal. Paramjeet will meet Bhutan's Lobzing.
