KOZHIKODE: The patients who were in the 13th ward of the Government Beach Hospital here had to suffer the ignominy of spending their days in the midst of wastewater overflowing into the ward.

A leaking drainage caused water to flow into the ward. This has been happening for the past couple of days, the patients in the ward alleged.

A newspaper vendor admitted to the ward, who can only use his hands to move about, said he was suffering a great deal due to the water flowing into the ward. He is being treated for a wound on his hand. The bystanders of the patients are also having a harrowing time.

Hospital superintendent D. Thankam said a leak in a drainage line had caused the problem. "We have already informed the PWD authorities. Meanwhile, we have employed workers to fix the leak. This, we expect would be done soon." she said.
