Gadar's peace march from February 3

Special Correspondent

Writes to Minister seeking security

Balladeer Gadar

HYDERABAD: Balladeer Gadar is taking out a padayatra as part of the Great Cultural Peace March from Manuguru in Khammam district to Bellampalli in Adilabad from February 3.

Gadar and others will pay their respects to martyrs of the Telangana struggle at the memorial near Gun Park here on February 2. Telangana protagonist Keshava Rao Jadhav will hand over the peace flag to the balladeer after which the team will leave for Manuguru.

Gadar told reporters on Tuesday that in the padayatra's first phase students and others would march from Manuguru and reach Narsampet on February 14. They would pass through Palvancha, Kothagudem, Tekulapalli, Yellandu, Bayyaram (in Khammam), Mahabubabad, Gudur, Khanapur and Narsampet.

The second phase would begin at Mallampalli and cover Mulugu, Venkatapuram, Ghanpur, Bhupalpalli, Kataram, Manthani, Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Godavarikhani, Srirampur, Mancherial, Mandamarri and Bellampalli.

"Despite doctors' advice not to strain myself due to ill-health, I will walk till my health permits and then address meetings in villages. I have already written a letter to Home Minister K. Jana Reddy seeking security," he said.

Bandaru's assertion

Warangal Staff Reporter writes: Meanwhile, BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya has reiterated that a separate Telangana would be possible with his party alone.

It was the only national party that is in favour of separate statehood for the region. He was addressing party workers here. Stating that there was no need to worry over the popularity of TRS, he said: "The BJP is gaining patronage in the region and the future belongs to the party."

Referring to the `united Andhra' slogan of the TDP, he said the party lacked unity on the issue. Mr. Dattatreya lamented that the alliance with the TDP resulted in loss to the party in the State.
