KURNOOL: Javed, resident of Nandyal, with the connivance of his wife Rehna Banu abducted three-year-old Jeffrey for easy money. Two Town Inspector V.V. Naidu, who headed the investigating team, said Javed, a college dropout, and Rehna got married four months ago against the wishes of their parents. The newly-wed migrated to Hyderabad for a living and found life difficult. That compelled them to look out for easy money through illegal activities. The couple decided to kidnap a baby and looked for their victim in Kurnool, so that nobody would think of searching for a lost baby in Hyderabad. Javed stole the boy who was playing near his house on January 15 and proceeded to Hyderabad by bus. The boy was left under the care of Rehna Banu at Hyderabad.
Skilful gameplan
The kidnappers told the police that the boy did not give them any trouble in the last 14 days of their custody. The kidnapper played such a skilful game that it took the police 15 days to achieve a breakthrough. Mr. Naidu said the operation had involved lot of risk as a mistake would endanger the life of the kidnapped boy. The police said offenders were going hi-tech making their job a challenging one.
