KARIMNAGAR: Markfed Chairman Ponnam Prabhakar has appealed to the opposition parties to cooperate with the Government in the execution of pending irrigation projects in the district instead of making a hue and cry. Mr. Prabhakar alleged that the TDP and the TRS were misleading people of the district with false statements on the execution of projects. He suggested to opposition leaders to visit the project sites and see the progress of the work before making any charges. Giving details about the projects, he said that the SRSP flood flow canal project was progressing well and the Government had so far spent Rs. 1,264 crores. The Yellampalli (Sripada Sagar project) was being taken up at a cost of Rs. 858 crores. He said the Government would execute the Mid-Manair Dam (MMD) reservoir on the SRSP flood flow canal at the earliest by providing suitable relief and rehabilitation package to land oustees. He stated that the Government spent Rs.402 crores on the SRSP phase II work in the region. Flaying TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao for using abusing language against Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he found fault with the TRS president for not demanding the IIT in Karimnagar district. He ridiculed Mr. Rao for demanding the IIT in Basar when it was sanctioned to his native Medak district.
