NEW DELHI: Haryana will exploit its proximity to the National Capital and restore sites of historic and archaeological significance in an effort to promote the State as a tourist destination, Haryana Minister of State for Tourism and Forests Kiran Choudhry said here on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference, Ms. Choudhry said a master plan would be formulated to integrate "all small units of archaeological and historical importance into a tourism circuit". The Minister said the Centre had recently allocated Rs.16.3 crore to develop and promote Panipat-Kurukshetra-Pinjore as an integrated tourist circuit. "Kurukshetra is a site of historic significance and it should be on the international map in a big way. It should be made a heritage city. I have written to the Prime Minister to take up the matter with UNESCO," said Ms. Choudhry.
