A.R. Rahman
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Music director A.R. Rahman has been selected for the Swaralaya-Kairali-Jesudas Award for 2007. Veteran music director K. Raghavan has been selected for the award for lifetime contribution to Malayalam film music. Mr. Rahman and Mr. Raghavan were selected by a jury that had Minister for Cultural Affairs M.A. Baby as chairman. Playback singers K.P.Udayabhanu and B. Arundhathi, lyricist Poovachal Khader and litterateur Rosemary were the jury members. Organising committee chairman and Mayor C.Jayan Babu and jury members told reporters here on Tuesday that the award for Mr.Rahman comprises Rs.1 lakh, a statuette designed by Kanayi Kunhiraman and a citation. Mr.Raghavan's award consists of a purse of Rs.75,000, a statuette and a citation.
