NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided the Meerut residence of the former Nithari police post in-charge Simranjit Kaur. During interrogation, Moninder Singh, one of the accused in the Nithari killings, alleged that he had bribed her to clear his name in a case relating to the abduction of one of the victims. Also, the CBI while scrutinising Moninder's mobile phone records found that over 30 calls were exchanged between him and Ms. Kaur last November-December, creating suspicion about her role. During the two-hour-long search, the raiding team seized files pertaining to some of the missing children and a general diary with the activities of police personnel recorded on a daily basis. The team also recovered documents pertaining to a bank locker purportedly belonging to Ms. Kaur. She was one of the six police officers dismissed after being found guilty of gross negligence as they failed to register cases and properly investigate complaints about the missing children. The CBI is planning to summon her for questioning.
