Diabetic women's week

Yalamanchi Hospitals and Research Centre is offering a special package as part of diabetic women's week from Tuesday. Managing director Y. Sadasiva Rao said the week would be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Y. Himana. He said diabetes was noticed more in women than men.

MLA seeks information

Nandigama MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, under Right to Information Act, sought information on Machilipatnam port privatisation from the principal secretary, R&B and Ports, Government of Andhra Pradesh. He sought to know, among other things, whether any notification was issued regarding alternate site in lieu of Bandar as found for deepwater port.

Lok Satta Party leader A.J. Prakash said there would be an agitation if the Government sought to privatise education and health. He demanded the Government explore all avenues to provide free healthcare to poor people. The Government should withdraw its plans to start public-private partnerships in healthcare.

Vijayawada East MLA V. Radhakrishna laid the foundation stone for sub-way in Krishna Lanka area and it would be convenient for the local people. As part of `Mee kosam mee vente' conducted in the 5th division of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, Mr. Radhakrishna visited different places and participated in developmental activities.

Mahatma's death

anniversary observed

The City Congress Committee paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of the latter's 59th death anniversary. The leaders garlanded a photo of Gandhi at the office and recalled his services to the nation.
