2 alleged LeT ultras held

Sangareddy: Two alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba activists were arrested on Tuesday by the Sangareddy police who claimed to have gathered information about the whereabouts of more than 10 others in and around Hyderabad.

According to the district police, a 36-year-old Mohammed Omar Farooquddin alias Abbu alias Amar (36) was arrested on the periphery of the town on charge of over-speeding. During the search of his motorcycle, the police found incriminating literature in Urdu. Upon questioning, police came to know that Omar was a native of Allipur of Zaheerabad and that he befriended Sajid of Khammam in Saudi Arabia in 1988. Sajid is alleged to have links with the Lashkar.

The police collected a list of alleged Lashkar sympathisers in Medak and Hyderabad districts from them. Mohammed Abdul Rehman Khan, Aziz, Shoukat and Chinnu, lecturer in Vani College of Zaheerabad Abdul Haider, in-charge of a madarasa in Medak Maulana Zaved and residents of Hyderabad Abdul Salman Noman, Abdul Aleemhshahi and Irfan were found to have links with the LeT.
