Water bill can be paid online soon

HYDERABAD: The HMWSSB is going in for Enterprise Resource Planning utility system (ERP) to integrate all data and processes of the organisation into a unified system. Towards that end, it has inked a pact with a city-based software solutions company here on Monday.

The company co-options had earlier implemented an ERP solutions package of the Sri Lankan Government water board that covers the entire island nation.

Modules which formerly were stand-alone applications be it billing, revenue, new connections, stores, customer relations or works and Internet-based payments would all be brought under a unified database making it more functional and flexible, the HMWSSB managing director K.S. Jawahar Reddy said here on Tuesday.

"While some of our modules are outdated that need to be replaced some are stand-alone that need to be integrated," he explained.

Mr. Reddy said it would take nine months for the entire package to be in place. "But the applications should be showing results within three months time," he said.

Giving examples, he said touch screen kiosks could be set up at strategic locations around the city and customers could key in and find out their pending bill amounts from literally anywhere. What more, they can also make payments online and even take a print-out of the transaction without even venturing out of home to the circle offices of the water board. The water board also tied up with another software company Axcel Frontline for maintenance of its over loaded network.
