Vehicles consumed 3.32 lakh kilolitres of petrol in 2005-06

BANGALORE:
Private vehicles consumed 3.32 lakh kilolitres of petrol in Bangalore in 2005-06, Indian Oil Corporation sources said. Of the 4.30 lakh kilolitres of diesel sold in the city during this period, about 85 per cent was consumed by the transport sector. Bangalore gets its oil supplies from Mangalore, Kochi and Chennai. Bangalore consumed 2.55 lakh tonnes of LPG in 2005-06.
Estimated growth of demand for petrol is six per cent while that of diesel is 10 per cent. The demand for LPG is expected to grow at 6.9 per cent. Bangalore has 320 petrol outlets and 106 LPG distributors. Karnataka is one of the highest petrol and diesel-consuming States. Indian Oil Corporation Chief Divisional Consumer Sales Manager Ananthraman says that a sense of conservation should be inculcated in children.
